Why Now?
The proposed 2026 bond continues Irving ISD’s long-range facilities planning process, which began well before the district’s 2023 bond program.
A Facilities Planning Committee (FPC), composed of parents, students, staff, and community members, reviewed demographic studies, enrollment projections, facility assessments, educational specifications, long-range planning information and project cost estimates before making its recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
The proposed bond propositions include projects identified through that planning process to address aging facilities, student programs, technology, safety and district infrastructure.

FACILITY PLANNING PRIORITIES
Planning for More Than Buildings
The Facility Planning Committee considered a variety of factors when developing recommendations.
-
Irving ISD facilities have served students for decades, with 50% of its facilities being over 50 years old. During the planning process, the Facility Planning Committee reviewed facility assessments, building conditions, and long-range planning information to develop the bond proposal.
So, why weren't these projects included in the 2023 bond?
It came down to project prioritization and funding capacity. During development of the 2023 bond program, the Facility Planning Committee evaluated facility conditions and project costs across the district. The committee recommended addressing a portion of the district's identified projects in 2023, while recognizing that additional long-range projects would likely need to be considered in the future. The proposed 2026 bond includes projects identified through that continued planning process.
-
The Facility Planning Committee emphasized the importance of student engagement during their evaluation process. The proposed bond package will affect a variety of student programs, including CTE, Fine Arts, JROTC, Athletics, and STEM.
-
Maintaining safe learning environments was a priority of the Facility Planning Committee. The proposed projects include safety and security improvements designed to secure campuses and enhance district-wide safety measures.
-
Technology is an evolving aspect of teaching and learning. The proposed technology projects would replace aging student and staff devices, upgrade network infrastructure, enhance cybersecurity, and maintain secure, reliable access to digital learning resources.
